Nantucket This Week: August 24–30, 2026
Late August on Nantucket has a rhythm all its own. The height of summer may be beginning to ease, but the island is still full of reasons to get outside, explore town, enjoy a beach day, and make the most of the season before September arrives.
Whether you’re visiting for the week or squeezing in one last summer getaway, here are a few things to keep on your radar.
Around the Island This Week
There is still plenty happening around Nantucket as August winds down.
Tonight, August 24, Nantucket Dreamland welcomes island reggae-rock band Foggy Roots to the Harborview Deck for an evening of live music overlooking the harbor. Dreamland’s week continues with its Golden Age Films series, the Nantucket Film Festival Summer Documentary Series, and additional films and performances throughout the week.
Art and culture continue around the island as well, while families can look ahead to Family Night at the Museum: Pirates & Mermaids on Sunday, August 30.
ACK Concierge Tip: Late summer can be a wonderful time to leave a little room in your itinerary. Choose one or two things you’d really like to experience, then give yourself time to wander, shop, linger over lunch, or head to the beach when the weather cooperates.
Make Time for a Late-Summer Beach Day
Don’t pack away the beach bag just yet.
Late August can still offer beautiful Nantucket beach days, and this is a lovely time to enjoy the shoreline as the island gradually begins transitioning toward September.
Whether your ideal day means calmer water near town or a classic afternoon on the sand, having your equipment arranged ahead of time makes the day considerably easier.
ACK Concierge & Rental Services offers beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers and other rental essentials to help take some of the logistics out of your Nantucket beach day.
Dining Pick: Bloom Bar
For something a little different downtown, Bloom Bar on South Water Street is worth putting on your late-summer list.
The European-inspired café and bar transitions from coffee and café fare during the day to wine, cocktails and evening bites later on—making it an easy stop whether you’re starting your morning in town or winding down after a day around the island.
One More Nantucket Moment
As August comes to a close, don’t feel pressured to fill every hour.
Take the long way back from the beach. Stop for a coffee. Walk the cobblestones without a destination. Catch the harbor in the evening light.
Sometimes the best part of a Nantucket stay is the part you didn’t schedule.
